Scions of the Seas: A Paper Miniature Collection

In the time before the rise of men, when the first servants of the gods ruled as far as the eye could see, a great cataclysm visited the world.  Angry at the arrogance of the Elven firstborn, the gods cast their wrath from the heavens, hurling down the stars from the skies into the oceans.  Hundreds of thousands of Elven kind were washed away in the massive tidal waves that followed, leaving the shores of the empire barren of their people.

The noble houses of those coastal cities and metropolises were long thought dead and it not until thousands of years later that their fate was revealed when the elves took to the seas again.  From their elegant ship, the fey mariners looked into the waters only to find glowing blue eyes staring back from the depths.  Lithe, piscine forms leapt from the deep ocean onto the decks, attacking these interlopers from above the waves.

In their final moments, the noble houses of those great cities cast power magics over themselves, transforming their bodies to meet the conditions of the seas which their kingdoms were cast into.  Now rulers under the waves, these mer-elves defend their great underwater temple-cities and surrounding domains from all manner of threat, land dweller and otherwise.
